Two Days Fishing, Diving and Feasting 5&6 July 2023 - VIDEO

Two days fishing and diving in the middle of New Zealand's winter. The first day was a solo shore dive from Tairua Beach, with beautiful clear water and great vis. There were lots of crayfish in berry, which were left in the water, and a nice male freediving, for dinner that night. Recipe that night was Crayfish Cakes w Crayfish Medallion, Crayfish Bisque and Watercresss. Then the next morning it was a Full Day ++Plus++ catch and cook adventure for Craig, Kev and Neil. We paid our respects to the ocean, had a chill morning checking out caves and coastline, before hunting down some bait, then heading wide for some winter haku / yellowtail kingfish. We found the kingfish out deep, and had a great kingfish session with plenty of kaimoana to take home. Dinner that night was a few of our favourite recipes and dishes. Crayfish legs steamed. Kingfish sashimi with sesame drizzle and spring onion. Kingfish head and wings, roasted, with wasabi mayo, on cucumber. And finally, crayfish w smashed roast agria, w blackened kingfish, sprouts and watercress. Full nourished by Tangaroa! Ngā mihi!
