 Men’s Wellbeing Retreat

You’ve landed in the right place.

Welcome to a safe, judgement free space, designed especially for men, that will help you heal and unlock the answers, yourself.

Our Men’s Wellbeing Retreats help men feel well, sleep better and find their joy, by reconnecting them with nature and purpose.

In this busy, stressful world, Men need these wellbeing retreats more than ever.

Our signature retreat is a four day, group retreat, run every month.

Our Men’s retreats are the perfect medicine, if you are feeling signs of burn out, stress, overwhelm, poor sleep, fatigue, depression, or are finding it hard to shift stuck emotions.

Provider is a positive energy experience, tailored for men, that creates space for men to heal their mind, body and wairua. We give men, space, to rediscover and remember their true purpose on this earth, and give the mind, body and soul some time to recharge, reset and recover.

On this 4 day Men’s Wellness retreat, you will be immersed in the wairua (spirit) of Tairua, back into nature, and be given the space to pause and reset your mental, physical and spiritual health.

"I attended one of Carls Men's retreats recently while going through a tough time. Carl and Tia were amazing hosts and everything from the accommodation, amazing food and all of the learnings and insights were incredible. I felt very comfortable around Carl and the other attendees, and it was on this retreat that I made some life changing decisions and I have not looked back. This retreat is very well worth it and I will certainly be looking to attend another one in the future as it is just such a great experience and a gift to the mind, body and soul. A 10/10 experience for sure." Ben, retreat participant 2021

Hunt, gather, move, eat well, heal, connect, learn, have fun, reset, reframe, recharge, rebalance and rejuvenate.

Humans have been on this earth for over 40,000 generations. Our Wellbeing retreats, draw on the wisdom of many indigenous cultures, including Māori, who all looked to nature for their medicine. Regardless of our ethnicity, all our ancestors hunted, gathered, foraged and on a small scale, grew their own food. They knew how to live by the seasons, in tune with nature. They were very connected with their community, to their ancestory and the spiritual world. They ate well, had very little chronic disease, and assuming nothing else in nature killed them, they died of old age.

In today’s society we have largely lost this knowledge of the healing power of food, movement and being in tune with nature, and as a result, chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes are rife, mental health is a large issue and our intuition to follow our true path in life is often lost.

On this retreat, which is held over a typical work week, you will reset, and take a step back from the pressures of life, on the beautiful Coromandel.

Together with a bunch of like minded guys, you will hunt and gather your own food, heading out on the water fishing and diving, visit pristine beaches gathering shellfish, and foraging in the ngahere (forest) and local gardens for plants, veges and herbs. All your food will be cooked in healthy ketogenic or paleo style ways. You’ll take part in the process and learn healthy ideas to take back home with you. Things like making your own stocks, and bone broths, and cooking without carbs, processed foods and sugar.

You will join a small group of good men, and we will all hold space for each others stories, struggles and aspirations. These retreats are a safe confidential space to talk about anything, with no judgement.

You’ll also get out and about on land, moving a lot, bush walking, exploring, and trying out guys yoga, breathwork and meditation.

Unlike a typical guys getaway, this week will be completely alcohol free, and preferably, unplugged and digital free (we will take heaps of cool photos and videos for you, so you can spend the week largely free of carrying a mobile around!).

Your retreat will be lead by Carl Muir, who has guided on the Coromandel for 20 years, and is a qualified PreKure Health Coach. Carl’s realisation over the years is that his passions - fishing, diving, exploring, gardening and cooking, form the building blocks foundation of mens wellbeing. Through his own personal development, struggles, exploration, learning and growth, he has the ability to create a safe space where men can open up about their own journey and stories. Sometimes all it takes is some time to unplug, reset and let nature do the work.

On each group retreat, we recognise every man is coming from their own place, and on their own journey. We facilitate the space so everyone brings their own magic and contribution to the group. We steer the waka, every man paddles it. For this reason, the retreats are also a great experience for men wanting to give back and help others and share their wisdom and lived experience.

When men are struggling, they need their pain to be witnessed by other MEN who can hold space for them. Men who can listen, not judge, can relate, ask the right questions and can let the man talking let it all out and come up with his own medicine. It is usually inside them.

The kai needs to be pure. From nature. Unprocessed. The devices need to be turned off for the week. We head into a space away from news, media, emails, distractions, into the moment.

Creating this safe space is important.  There’s no place for ‘a couple of beers’ in this space. There is no dulling down the struggle and pain. We let it all out. There are often tears, but also a lot of fun and laughter.

It is usually best done in a group where no-one knows each other. For this reason our retreats are small, personalised and intimate.  4 complete strangers, plus a trained facilitator.

We do more than talk. We move. We breathe. We laugh. We connect. We let go. In nature.

Men go away lighter, able to feel joy again. And they go away with real tools to keep going.

Here’s what some of our previous participants had to say:

“From the moment I arrived at the retreat I felt welcome and comfortable. Having a chat with the guys at the beginning helped to start bonding and set us up for the awesome four days that followed. The meals were exceptional and there were plenty of healthy snacks if you got peckish. Getting out on the boat and into nature really helped me unwind, and talking/laughing/joking with the guys all added to the experience. Being alcohol free with excellent, healthy food and lots of outdoor activity really put a focus on wellness which I have taken back home with me and will continue with. Carl and Tia, you're a great team and awesome hosts, I enjoyed every moment of the retreat and wish you all the best for future events.” Dean, October 2021

"Carl & Tia were exceptional hosts, loved Tia straight away,... Have known Carl for some years now. Who knew he was a great cook. Meals were of restaurant standard. The accomodation was exquisite. They took great care of us. Eating what you catch & harvest from the sea, just enriches your wairua (spirit). Meeting & getting to know the other guys on this retreat was a great experience. All from different walks in life. Yet with a lot of things in common. Carl & Tia you’s were amazing, Thank You’ very much for the opportunity to be apart of this fantastic experience, love you both.. Take care & God bless.... Would love to do this again in the future.." John, Auckland Oct 2020

"Men's mental health & overall wellbeing is still so often overlooked, by ourselves as much as anyone. I found the Provider men's retreat an ideal opportunity to put myself first for a few days, in the company of some fantastic men, all of whom I learnt from. Acknowledging what makes men tick, & how our daily lives often isolate us from this, means that the opportunity to spend some time in the stunning Coromandel marine environment, under Carl's laid back but very insightful guidance, is something that you will never regret. I found that the benefits did not become fully apparent until after returning home, with renewed strength & clarity. This is just a great experience on so many levels. You will catch more fish that you've ever dreamed of, eat like a king, & sleep like a baby. It is not an indulgence, it is an investment in yourself & those you love. Just do it." James, Warkworth
