The Pepeha is an answer to these questions.

Two questions at the heart of Travel and the human experience. We travel to connect with other lands and cultures, share knowledge, find unity and shared meaning. Travel is an exploration of who we really are, and our global roots to this Earth.

This is not a one way transmission! Cultural travel works best when both the visitor and guide get to know each others whakapapa (lineage) and stories.

If you are looking for a personal, deep connection into the land and waters of Aotearoa, there is no better place to start than Te Tara-o-te-Ika-a-Māui - the barb or spine of the fish, hauled in by Maui - the ancient name given to the Coromandel Peninsula.

By connecting deeply into the Coromandel - you’ll get to know yourself more deeply too.

We’ll connect to all of the elements:

-AHI: The Fire - visit the remnants of 8 million year old volcanos that formed our landscapes, and hear the stories of the Atua who sculptured our landscapes

-WAI: The water - the giver of life, travel to the source, the upper reaches and the springs that feed and nourish our waterways, follow their flow to the ocean, then venture out of the horizon and witness the abundance and life, above and below the water.

-HAU: The wind, breath and fresh air, we’ll spend time in silence, in the forest, by the river, on the beach, listening into nature’s messages and whispers. A time to drop into conscious breathing and nourish yourself on this journey

-PAPATŪĀNUKU: The Earth - eat fresh, nourishing plant based food from the garden and forest, and fresh kaimoana (seafood) and ika (fish) from the ocean. At the heart of the Provider experience is a a realisation of where healthy food really comes from, and collecting in a way that has the least possible footprint - and gives something back to Mother Earth.

Best planned over four days, we will take you on a journey deep into the untold stories of the Coromandel’s best kept secrets, waterfalls, beaches, trails, mountains - our mission is to create that spark of deeper enquiry - where is my river, where is my mountain - where am I really from? Who are my ancestors?
