Big Winter Hapuka, Snapper and Kings June / July / Aug 2012
Fishing very deep has paid off over these cool winter months. It has been very rare to find quality fish shallower than 90m, most of the fish have been skulking down very deep.
The big boy Boulder showed his calibre staying close to the bottom and coming up tight on a solid 35kg hapuka.
From similar grounds we nailed a 35kg kingi to Omar.
And the nice line of kings and hapuka followed, including a very respectable fish too Mike Rixon.
When the wind has been blowing good snapper on the coast, (Hot Water Beach has been holding some good fish) and kingfish among the bait schools in the bay have kept everyone entertained.
Great time of year to be doing it, get out there!
