36.5kg Kingfish and some mental spring kingfish action!

This spring has just blown my mind! We've arrived on the outer kingfish grounds some days to find big green and gold missiles cruising the surface! Just amazing!

We've been casting light gear to massive kingfish, with the 100m underneath us allowing us to fight 20-30kg kingfish on soft bait gear!

Fish of the season goes to Anthony Dimech who had one hell of a tussle with a brute of a kingfish that gave him a hiding! We weighed the fish in at Whitianga and it went 36.5kg. Nice work Anth! Rob, Bash and Anth had the craziest few days with big kingfish on all tackle sizes and types and some visually spectacular fishing.

I also had the pleasure of hosting Sami Omari from Fishing World Australia. It was great to spend a few days fishing myself and seeing Sami have a ball on some hard fighting NZ kingfish and snapper. Can't wait to fish with you again Sami!
