Fun Family Fishing Charter - School Holiday Fishing Fun!

How much fun can you pack in to 4 hour fishing charter ?

It turns out, quite a lot! Especially this time of year!

Ben Absolom brought his whanau up from the Hawkes Bay to Pauanui for the school holidays. Joining up with some extended family and friends, all up 3 adults and 5 kids jumped on board for the half day trip.

The plan was to catch young Freddy a kingi for his birthday present, (this was a surprise present, he thought he was fishing off the wharf for the morning!) anything else would be a bonus.

I turns out the kids ending up with a fishing session a lot of grown adults would envy.

After all the kids had some fun catching maccies for bait, we blasted up the coast to where the previous full day’s charter crew had a bit of fun,……but not this much fun!

Freddy got his fish about 5 minutes in to slow trolling, it was a beauuuutty!

All the kids were in absolute awe of this fish!

I was hoping for just one or two legal kingis for a trip like this then a few snapper or terakihi, instead...a pack of monsters turned up that most ardent fishos would dream of!

I reckon Ben’s arms will be pretty tired after helping them all. The kids learnt to look after the fishery for the future with plenty of fish realeased, including the two biggest of the day.

And we checked out sea caves, and fed some monster snapper. Pretty much the perfect Kiwi morning aye!
